greentech phytoresearch was founded and is run by agricultural economist Christian Strunden, who looks back on 30 years of world wide experience in agro-industry, fruit & crop farming, farm management, agricultural development.

The company disposes of a solid, multidisciplinary network of specialists which are drawn upon in a case-by-case, project-specific way. This leads to a broad approach to agriculture and food security, allows for thinking outside the box and enables swift reaction times.

Christian Strunden was hired to set up the first professional wheat and forage farms in Abu Dhabi in 2010-2011. As a result, he formulated food security strategies for the Middle East, explored overseas farming on different continents as an alternative to crop production in the Middle East and sketched the outlines of The OPERATING GUIDE for RULERS - INVESTORS - PLANNERS. This work progressed over several years with advice and collaboration of internationally experienced farm managers, irrigation engineers, hydrologists, meteorologists, economists, mathematicians, actuaries and computer modelers. It condenses several man-years of top-level expertise, experience and insight.

We advise clients to follow our golden rules of planning and managing successful projects:

  • Challenge your project by playing alternative scenarios (inflation, cost of inputs, new taxes, world market fluctuations)!

  • Talk to as many operators, consultants, experts, competitors as possible

  • Proper planning, realistic assumptions, accurate costing and top management makes the difference between a failed investment and a profitable, satisfying venture.
